US operation kills Tren de Aragua cartel leader Nio Guerrero

President Donald Trump announced that Nio Guerrero, the leader of the Tren de Aragua drug cartel, was killed in a United States military operation. The strike, ordered by U.S. Southern Command, was carried out with close coordination with the Venezuelan government, according to Trump’s statement on the Truth platform.

Trump described the cartel as "one of the world's bloodiest terror organizations" and said the operation demonstrated the administration’s commitment to combatting transnational criminal groups. He also criticized former President Joe Biden’s border policies, recalled victims of cartel‑related violence, and noted that the cartel has been formally listed as a foreign terrorist organization, with its members now having no safe haven in Venezuela or elsewhere.
