US Pentagon chief Hegseth warns of imminent strikes on Iran

Pentagon secretary Pete Hegseth told reporters at CENTCOM headquarters in Tampa, Florida, that U.S. forces will carry out strong night attacks on Iran, targeting "key facilities" and that the military will be "very busy" on Wednesday. He said the United States is prepared to set conditions for a deal that President Donald Trump seeks, and that the planned strikes aim to pressure Tehran in ongoing negotiations.

The announcement follows earlier U.S. attacks on Iranian radar and air‑defence systems after an American helicopter was shot down, and comes amid reports of Iranian responses, including closures of the Hormuz Strait and retaliatory actions near Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan.
