US petroleum equipment arrives in Venezuela amid industry recovery hopes
Used petroleum equipment acquired through United States auctions has begun arriving in Venezuela, signaling expectations of a recovery in the Venezuelan oil industry following shifts in Washington’s energy policy.
Logistics operations involve moving drilling equipment, pumps, valve stations, and welding tools from states including Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado to Venezuelan ports. Much of this equipment is being consolidated in Humble, Texas, by the company Guanta Express before being shipped via sea to the ports of Guanta and Maracaibo.
Guanta Express president Greg Diaz stated the company expects to operate at full capacity by the end of the year. Recent shipments to Maracaibo have included containers for well reconditioning. The company plans to transport larger 1,500-horsepower units in upcoming shipments.
There are ongoing questions regarding the condition of the machinery. Jesse Cole, CEO of Sky Drop Capital, noted that the used equipment market provides a mix of units in good condition and those with high levels of wear. Examples include heavy machinery and tractors purchased at auctions in states like Georgia.
