US political candidates intensify campaigns in Georgia and Washington

Political candidates in Georgia and Washington are intensifying their campaigns as key elections approach. In Georgia, Democratic U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff and Republican challenger U.S. Rep. Mike Collins have engaged in sharp exchanges. Ossoff criticized Collins regarding reported ties between a former staffer and white nationalists, while Collins attacked Ossoff’s record on inflation and border security.

In Washington, upcoming televised debates are scheduled to address high-stakes ballot measures and congressional races. A debate on October 8 will feature Jaime Herrera Beutler and April Sims regarding Initiative 645, a proposal to repeal the income tax for households earning over $1 million annually. Additionally, Democratic U.S. Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and Republican state Senate leader John Braun will participate in two televised matchups in October to decide the seat for Washington’s 3rd Congressional District.
