US Politicians Warn Socialists of Threat to Democratic Party

On a July 31, 2026 episode of Morning Joe, host Joe Scarborough claimed that Republicans are “the socialists that nobody’s talking about,” while dismissing the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) as a fringe group. Later, House Democrat Josh Gottheimer told Fox News that the DSA is “anti‑American” and should form its own party, accusing its members of trying to hijack the Democratic Party. Gottheimer noted the party’s 45 million registered voters versus roughly 150,000 DSA members and warned that the group’s platform conflicts with mainstream Democratic values.
