US Poll: 68% of Americans view Trump's Iran war management as a failure

A poll conducted by the University of Massachusetts Amherst between August 21 and August 26 reveals widespread American dissatisfaction with President Donald Trump’s management of the conflict with Iran. According to the survey results published on Informed Comment, 68% of respondents believe Trump has failed significantly in managing the war, with 55% describing his performance as ‘very bad’ and 13% as ‘not very good.’

Regarding the conflict itself, 54% of participants expressed strong or moderate opposition to the war. When combined with those who remained neutral, approximately three-quarters of Americans do not support the military action. The survey also noted that the economic repercussions of the conflict on daily life have contributed to this negative sentiment.

The analysis suggests that media efforts to garner support for the administration and the war—including coverage from News Corp outlets like Fox News and the Wall Street Journal—failed to sway public opinion. Additionally, the media campaigns and visibility of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not convince Americans of the war's necessity; instead, the findings indicate that such efforts strengthened the belief among many that economic and military ties with the Israeli government should be severed.
