US President Trump Receives Qatar Gift of New Air Force One

President Donald Trump unveiled a new Air Force One, a Boeing 747‑8 previously owned by Qatar’s former royal family. The jet, described as a “bridge aircraft,” will serve as the president’s official plane until Boeing delivers a permanent replacement expected in 2028. The $400 million aircraft features a larger press area, luxury interiors with wood tables, silver‑tone finishes and convertible seats that become beds.

Trump said he will fly the jet to the NATO summit in Ankara next month and may use it for a future visit to China. He also announced that the aircraft will make a special flight on July 4, Independence Day, over the United States. The gift has sparked debate in the United States over the propriety of accepting a costly foreign donation, though the Air Force confirmed that required security upgrades have been completed.
