US public approval falls amid ongoing Iran conflict
Recent polling indicates growing American dissatisfaction with the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran. A CNN/SSRS poll reveals that nearly two-thirds of Americans believe the U.S. is not winning the war, while a significant portion of the population feels President Donald Trump is not doing enough to resolve the situation.
Public approval of Trump’s foreign policy has reached a new low, with 71% of adults disapproving of his handling of international affairs. Specifically, approval for his management of the Iran conflict has dropped to 26%, a decline from 33% recorded a month after the conflict began. This decline is notably evident among Republicans; while 73% of Republicans approved of his handling of the situation in March, that figure has fallen to 60%.
The conflict, which involved U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran, has led many Americans to conclude that the war has harmed U.S. interests and has not been worth the cost. Market indicators also reflect this uncertainty, suggesting a decreased likelihood of a favorable U.S.-Iran deal in the near future.
