US Rare Half Dollar Coins Achieve Top PCGS Grades

A 1939 Proof Walking Liberty Half Dollar graded Proof‑68+ by PCGS, one of only seven such examples, will be offered in Stack’s Bowers Galleries’ Summer 2026 Global Showcase Auction (lot 2103). The coin, minted in Philadelphia with a mintage of 8,808, has become highly prized for its exceptional preservation.

Separately, an 1892 silver Barber half dollar graded MS63 by PCGS (cert. #34678979) was sold by WNC Coins in Asheville, NC, on 10 May 2026. The Barber series, designed by Chief Mint Engraver Charles E. Barber, had a mintage of 934,000 and is noted for its neoclassical Liberty portrait.

Both coins illustrate the continued demand for high‑grade historic US half dollars among collectors.
