U.S. refugee pathway urged for Jewish Canadians fleeing antisemitism

A conservative U.S. think‑tank and the nonprofit group Jewish Tulsa are urging the Trump administration to create a refugee‑status pathway for Jewish families leaving Canada amid a surge in antisemitic attacks. Executive director Joe Roberts says 800‑900 Canadian Jewish families – roughly 2,000 people – have sought help from the Tulsa Tomorrow program, which offers logistical support and financial aid for relocation to Oklahoma.

Most of the families could qualify for a visa under the North American trade agreement (CUSMA) or claim U.S. citizenship through family ties. Roberts points to recent fire‑bombings of synagogues and graffiti incidents across Canada as evidence that the Canadian government is not doing enough to protect its Jewish citizens, and cites a 2025 American Jewish Committee report describing a record‑high level of antisemitic targeting in the United States.
