US releases third batch of declassified UFO documents

On June 12, 2026 the United States Department of Defense added a third set of previously classified materials on unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) to its public website. The release includes dozens of documents, photographs and videos submitted by civilians, an FBI report from 2025 describing luminous spheres observed in the northeastern United States, and a collection of long‑kept CIA files. Among the CIA records is a 1958 memorandum noting that the agency could not answer a scientist’s query about a “message from space” because related files had been destroyed.

The declassification effort follows earlier releases in May and has drawn unprecedented public attention, with the Defense Department’s UAP portal receiving more than 1.7 billion visits worldwide since its launch. Officials said the transparency demonstrates the administration’s commitment to openness about anomalous aerial sightings.

The documents do not contain conclusive evidence of extraterrestrial technology, but they provide new data for researchers studying unexplained aerial incidents.
