US Representative Joe Wilson affirms support for Morocco's Sahara sovereignty

U.S. Representative Joe Wilson, chair of the Morocco Caucus, met with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly in New York to discuss strategic bilateral relations.

Wilson reaffirmed strong U.S. support for Morocco's sovereignty over its southern provinces in the Sahara, stating that regional peace and prosperity are fundamentally linked to this sovereignty. He praised the leadership of King Mohammed VI and highlighted Morocco's role in promoting stability and development across Africa and North Africa.

During the discussions, Wilson called for the designation of the Polisario Front as a terrorist organization. He also noted the historical ties between the two nations, recalling that Morocco was the first nation to recognize United States independence.
