US sailors involved in Pattaya altercation as Miss World 2026 concludes in Vietnam

Two US Navy sailors were involved in a physical altercation in Pattaya, Thailand, shortly after the USS Abraham Lincoln docked at the port. The sailors, who were reportedly intoxicated, were involved in a minor scuffle near Walking Street. Local police stated that while the sailors were loud and fighting, they did not violate any Thai laws. Consequently, they were returned to the ship for the remainder of the vessel's five-day port visit.

The USS Abraham Lincoln, carrying approximately 5,000 sailors, arrived in Pattaya after 286 days at sea. To maintain order, US and Thai officials had imposed strict restrictions on the crew, prohibiting visits to certain popular areas, cannabis shops, and participation in activities like paragliding or jet-skiing.

In separate news, Zoey Molla Dominguez of the Dominican Republic was crowned Miss World 2026 at the competition held in Vietnam. Competing against 111 participants from across the globe, Dominguez, who is a teacher and journalist, secured the title. Elizabeth Reines of Spain finished as the first runner-up, while Tanusia Chetty of Malaysia was the second runner-up.
