US sanctions four Indian companies over Iran oil trade
The United States government has imposed strict sanctions on four Indian companies and three Indian citizens for their alleged involvement in illegal oil and petrochemical trade with Iran. This action is part of a new global campaign titled ‘Operation Economic Outcast,’ aimed at cutting off financial resources to Tehran.
The sanctioned companies include Sadashiva Overseas Limited, PP Softtech Private Limited, Prakrutees Infra Impex India Private Limited, and Portease Partners LLP. According to the US Department of State, these entities were involved in transactions totaling approximately $119 million. Specifically, Sadashiva Overseas Limited is accused of importing $69 million worth of Iranian petroleum products between February 2024 and June 2025. PP Softtech and Prakrutees Infra are linked to roughly $25 million each in imports, while Portease Partners LLP is accused of acting as a customs broker to facilitate the movement of petrochemical shipments.
In addition to the corporate entities, the US has targeted three individuals: Indrismiya Ashrafmiya Sheikh and Harish Ramchandra Rangi of Portease Partners LLP, and Prashant Garg, a director at PP Softtech. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent described the move as part of a decisive economic effort to isolate Iran's economy.
