US Sanctions Official Visits Panama to Urge Action on Cuba Restrictions

U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary for Threat Financing and Sanctions Samuel Parker traveled to Panama, where he met with U.S. Ambassador Kevin Marino Cabrera and Panamanian officials to discuss enforcement of Washington’s sanctions against the Cuban regime.

Parker warned banks and foreign companies that facilitating illicit financial flows to Cuban military‑controlled entities, including GAESA and newly sanctioned groups such as the Rapid Response Brigades, the tourism ministry and firms like Gecomex, Gemar, Enetec and Coreydan, could trigger secondary sanctions under Executive Order 14404. The United States urged Panama to help cut off these flows, noting a June 5 deadline for foreign firms to cease dealings with GAESA.
