U.S. school districts propose bond measures for November ballots
Several school districts in the United States have placed bond measures and referendums on the November ballot to address funding needs for facilities and technology.
In the Auburn School District, Proposition 1 proposes a $491 million bond over 20 years. The funds are intended to address significant overcrowding, with some middle schools operating at over 140% capacity. The plan includes constructing a fifth middle school, a new building for Cascade Middle School, and a new building for Alpac Elementary School.
In Minnesota, the Alden-Conger Public School District is seeking authorization for $1.25 million in general obligation bonds to refund certificates of participation. Additionally, a capital project levy is proposed to fund technology systems, software, and curriculum materials, with an estimated project cost of $500,000 over ten years. Austin Public Schools has also approved a $24.9 million bond referendum for the November ballot to improve school sites and facilities.
