United States presses Iran over stalled nuclear talks as regional tensions rise

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Iran is not prepared to conclude a nuclear agreement, while the United States remains ready to negotiate. He warned that the price Tehran pays will increase nightly and stressed the need to keep the Strait of Hormuz open.

President Donald Trump announced he is studying a "largest ever" attack on Iran, noting that Israel could join the operation within minutes. He has not issued a final decision but indicated that further strikes could follow the recent U.S. air campaign that resumed after the July 18 cease‑fire ended.

Separately, Iranian state media reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps sent senior officers and weapons, including missiles and drones, to Yemen to bolster the Houthi rebels, heightening threats to Red Sea shipping.

Israel’s Mossad said it had thwarted an Iranian‑directed plot to recruit foreign operatives for attacks on senior Israeli officials, describing it as part of a broader “global campaign” against Israel.
