U.S. security concerns rise over assassination threats and military base vulnerabilities

Reports indicate that Donald Trump performed a secret mid-flight transfer from Air Force One to a military aircraft in Ankara, Turkey, following intelligence regarding a potential Iranian assassination attempt. While the CIA reportedly assessed the intelligence provided by Israel as having ‘low confidence,’ the U.S. Secret Service (USSS) strongly urged the transfer as a precautionary measure due to previous security incidents.

Separately, security experts are warning of vulnerabilities in U.S. military infrastructure. Analysis from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) suggests that recent Iranian drone and missile attacks in the Middle East caused damage to at least 20 U.S. facilities and resulted in losses of approximately $13 billion, including 42 aircraft.

Experts warn that these vulnerabilities extend to the Pacific, where U.S. bases in South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, and Guam remain highly susceptible to advanced missile and drone capabilities from China and North Korea. There are also growing concerns regarding the depletion of critical air defense interceptor stocks, such as Patriot missiles, following high-intensity engagements.
