US seeks $88 billion supplemental budget for war against Iran

The White House has asked Congress to approve an $88 billion supplemental appropriations bill, with the bulk of the funds earmarked for the war against Iran. About $67 billion would go to the Pentagon for operational costs and the replenishment of ammunition stocks after the February 28 strikes by the United States and Israel, while $11.1 billion is designated to support American farmers. The Energy Department would receive $672 million for activities aimed at eliminating Iran’s ability to develop or acquire nuclear weapons, and the State Department would get $300 million for security upgrades and renovation of diplomatic facilities in countries bordering Iran. The budget director urged “the Congress to act quickly” on these urgent requests.
