U.S. Senate advances 74 Trump nominees in en bloc vote

The United States Senate voted 50‑47 to advance a block of 74 presidential nominees appointed by former President Donald Trump. The group includes 17 ambassadorships, four U.S. attorneys, four U.S. marshals, a deputy secretary, four under secretaries, twelve assistant secretaries, as well as the heads of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Transportation Security Administration, among other positions.

The move clears a sizable portion of the more than 100 pending Trump nominations from his second term, though each nominee still requires a final confirmation vote later in the week. The advance comes as the Senate’s consideration of Trump’s pick for Attorney General, Todd Blanche, faces opposition from two Republican senators.
