U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee advances Farm Bill 2.0

The U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee has advanced the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 to the full Senate following a 12-11 vote. This legislation, referred to as Farm Bill 2.0, seeks to replace the 2018 Farm Bill, which farmers are currently operating under via a third extension.

Key provisions in the Senate version include the authorization of year-round sales for E15, a 15% ethanol fuel blend. Corn growers have expressed support for the move, noting that permanent nationwide authorization would provide the legislative certainty needed for infrastructure investment.

The dairy industry has also voiced support for the bill. The International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) commended the committee for including provisions such as the Dairy Nutrition Incentive Program, urging the full Senate to pursue bipartisan approval to provide stability for the industry.
