In response to these legislative efforts, Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado stated that any transition in her country must involve the organized participation of civil society rather than being limited to high-level negotiations. Machado highlighted the importance of citizen organization, citing the 2023 primaries and the July 28, 2024, electoral processes as evidence of a widespread desire for change despite subsequent repression.
