US Senate moves closer to passing Crypto CLARITY Act
Senator Cynthia Lummis told reporters the Crypto CLARITY Act could be debated on the Senate floor before the July 4 recess, but she stressed a vote is more likely before the August recess. Lawmakers still need to merge the Agriculture Committee version with the Banking Committee version and secure the 60 votes required for cloture.
The bill, which passed the House in July 2025 and cleared two Senate committees with a 15‑9 vote in the Banking Committee, would provide regulatory clarity for digital‑asset companies and aim to keep the United States a leader in blockchain development. The Senate added the legislation to its legislative calendar on June 2, making it eligible for full Senate consideration. Further bipartisan negotiations are expected over ethics provisions and other amendments before a floor vote can occur.
