US Senator Joni Ernst visits Kosovo for security talks

U.S. Senator Joni Ernst visited Kosovo, meeting with Acting President Albulena Haxhiu and KFOR Commander Major General Ozkan Ulutash. During the meeting with Haxhiu, discussions focused on current political developments, security issues, and the importance of maintaining close cooperation between Kosovo and the United States.

Haxhiu decorated Senator Ernst with the Presidential Medal of Merit in recognition of her contributions to strengthening the Kosovo-U.S. partnership and supporting Kosovo’s defense capabilities. The visit occurs during a period of institutional transition in Kosovo.

In addition to political meetings, Senator Ernst visited the KFOR mission headquarters at Camp Film City and the Gračanica Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site. While at the monastery, she met with Metropolitan Teodosije of Raška and Prizren, who raised concerns regarding the Serbian community and recent security developments, including the gradual integration of Kosovo Police into the KFOR security architecture at the Dečani Monastery.
