U.S. Small Business Administration launches support for veteran entrepreneurs

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is expanding its support for the more than 200,000 service members who leave the military annually. To assist with the transition to civilian life, the SBA is offering specialized resources, including entrepreneurship training and financial assistance.

Key initiatives include the Micro Lender Program, which provides loans of up to $50,000 to help veterans launch or grow businesses. Additionally, the SBA offers training through programs like ‘Boots to Business’ to assist with business planning and financial management.

To encourage participation in the federal marketplace, the SBA provides certifications for veteran-owned small businesses, allowing them to qualify for specific federal contracting opportunities. The agency also highlights franchise opportunities, noting that over 6,000 franchises are eligible for SBA financing.
