U.S. Social Security adjusts July‑August payment dates

The Social Security Administration will issue Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments for about 7 million low‑income seniors, disabled and blind recipients on July 31 instead of the usual August 1. Because August 1 falls on a Saturday, the payment is moved to the preceding Friday, resulting in two SSI checks in July and none in August. The schedule returns to normal in September when the first of the month falls on a Tuesday.

Regular Social Security retirement benefits continue on their established staggered schedule, with the third July payment set for July 22 for beneficiaries born on the 21st‑31st of the month. Other upcoming adjustments include moving the November 1 payment to October 30 and similar shifts for holiday dates.

These changes affect millions of recipients but do not alter the overall benefit amounts or eligibility criteria.
