The Social Security Administration announced that the August Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits will be issued on Friday, July 31, instead of the usual first‑of‑the‑month schedule. The change is due to August 1 falling on a weekend, prompting the agency to move the payment to the last business day of the prior month to avoid delays for recipients.

Beneficiaries can receive up to $994 per individual, $1,491 for couples filing jointly, and up to $498 for caregivers. Eligibility requires U.S. citizenship or qualifying non‑citizen status, residence in the 50 states, the District of Columbia or the Northern Mariana Islands, and no absence of 30 consecutive days from the United States. The adjustment affects the roughly 7.3 million SSI recipients nationwide.
