US Social Security July payments begin with first round on July 3

The Social Security Administration will issue the first round of July benefit payments on Wednesday, July 3, to retirees whose birth dates fall between the 1st and 10th of the month. A second round will be sent on July 15 for those born between the 11th and 20th, and a third round on July 22 for beneficiaries born on the 21st or later. Recipients of Supplemental Security Income are paid by the 3rd of the month.

Monthly benefits range up to $5,181 for a 70‑year‑old retiree and as low as $2,969 for a 62‑year‑old, depending on earnings history and retirement age. The program is financed by payroll taxes, but trustees warn the trust fund could be exhausted by 2032, potentially reducing payments by up to 22 %. Lawmakers are debating reforms, such as removing the income cap on Social Security contributions, to extend the fund’s solvency.
