Sgt. Angel Rampersad Identified as Third U.S. Soldier Presumed Dead After Iranian Attack on Jordan Base

U.S. Central Command confirmed that Sergeant Angel Rampersad, 28, of New York, is the third American service member believed to have been killed in the Iranian missile‑and‑drone strike on the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. The attack on July 17‑18 also killed 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Hawaii, and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Texas, and left Rampersad missing until DNA and forensic testing indicated the remains belong to her. The Pentagon updated her status to “Duty Status–Whereabouts Unknown; believed deceased,” bringing the total U.S. military casualties in the Iran‑U.S. conflict to 18 since the war began in late February. A separate incident in Iraq also claimed the life of Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton, 30, of North Carolina, during a controlled detonation of an Iranian drone. The strikes underline the escalating hostilities between the United States and Iran across the region, with Jordan hosting U.S. forces that remain vulnerable to Iranian retaliation.
