U.S. Southeast and Northeast Under Extreme Heat Advisories

The National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory and an Extreme Heat Watch for northwest Georgia, covering seven counties (Bartow, Chattooga, Floyd, Gordon, Murray, Polk, Whitfield) with heat‑index values expected to reach up to 110 °F on Thursday, July 2. A separate advisory extends to other parts of north‑central Georgia with indices up to 107 °F.

The service also issued an extreme heat warning for the Champlain Valley of New York and eastern Windsor County, Vermont, with the highest heat‑index values forecast between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. through Friday, July 3. Both alerts advise residents to limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated, use shade or air‑conditioned spaces, wear lightweight clothing, and seek medical help if heat‑related symptoms develop.
