U.S. Southern Command delivers humanitarian aid to earthquake‑hit Venezuela
The U.S. Southern Command and the U.S. Embassy in Caracas coordinated the delivery of food and essential supplies to families affected by the June 24 earthquakes in Venezuela. The aid, off‑loaded at the port of La Guaira on July 10, was accompanied by handwritten letters expressing solidarity, such as “Sending hugs and much love. Faith and hope, we are here supporting you.”
As of July 14, Venezuelan authorities reported 4,734 deaths, 16,740 injured, and 6,462 rescued. Assistance had reached 128,324 families, with 17,907 people left homeless and 20,903 residing in 107 temporary camps.
The United States affirmed its commitment to continue supporting humanitarian initiatives for the disaster‑stricken regions.
