General Francis L. Donovan, commander of the U.S. Southern Command, visited Iquitos, Peru, to strengthen security cooperation and combat narcoterrorist networks. Accompanied by U.S. Ambassador Bernardo Navarro, Donovan met with Peruvian Defense Minister Rafael Belaúnde and Joint Command Chief General César Briceño.
The visit focused on joint efforts within the framework of the Coalition Against the Americas' Cartels (A3C) and Peru's recent entry into the Shield of the Americas.
