U.S. soy food demand grows amid health and sustainability trends
At the Soy Connext 2026 conference in Chicago, industry leaders discussed the growing global demand for U.S. soy food products. Will McNair, Worldwide Director of Oil and Soy Food Programs at the U.S. Soybean Export Council, noted that domestic production of soy foods, including tofu and soy milk, has seen a compound annual growth of 5% to 7% since 2020.
Internationally, growth is being observed in traditional Asian markets and emerging markets such as Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand, where there is increasing interest in high-value soybean foods. Additionally, Western markets in Europe and Latin America are showing rising interest in soy consumption, mirroring U.S. trends driven by health, affordability, and sustainability concerns.
