U.S. Soybean Industry Promotes Feed Quality for Pigs and Dairy Cows

U.S. soybean meal quality is being highlighted as a driver of better animal performance and lower feed costs. Thomas D’Alfonso, Worldwide Animal Nutrition Focus Area Director for the U.S. Soybean Export Council, said that consistent U.S. soy protein improves growth, feed efficiency and customer confidence for swine producers worldwide. Thai feed‑mill director Teertach Robert Laovaravit echoed the message, noting that on‑farm results in his barns demonstrate the benefits of high‑quality soybean meal for pigs.

In the United States, a series of free field days in Wisconsin will educate dairy farmers on feeding high‑oleic soybeans. Sponsored by the United Soybean Board and Pioneer, the events feature University of Wisconsin Extension experts, on‑farm demonstrations of roasting and storage, and panels of producers sharing their experiences. The program aims to show the nutritional value, agronomic considerations and economic advantages of high‑oleic soybeans for dairy cattle.
