U.S. Space Force Azimuth program trains 300 cadets

The U.S. Space Force conducted its Azimuth program this summer at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Approximately 300 cadets participated in the three-week, three-part pre-commissioning format designed to introduce them to Space Force missions, organizational structures, and ‘Guardian’ culture.

The program targets cadets already selected for the Space Force, those considering a career in the branch, and future officers from other military services and Canada. The curriculum is structured to move from foundational classroom instruction to operational visits and hands-on electives, such as cyber operations, imagery analysis, and satellite operations. The training concludes with capstone exercises to simulate real-world applications.

According to Space Force representatives, the initiative supports STARCOM’s mission to prepare combat-ready forces capable of operating in contested, degraded, and operationally limited space environments. By focusing on early career development, the program aims to prepare the next generation of space warfighters for joint and coalition operations.
