U.S. State Department launches Space Catalyst Partnership

The U.S. Department of State has launched the Space Catalyst Partnership (SCP), an initiative designed to expand civil and commercial space cooperation between the United States and signatories of the Artemis Accords. Announced during Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s visit to Peru, the program aims to use diplomacy, funding, and private-sector engagement to connect U.S. space companies with international customers.

The partnership seeks to provide partner nations with access to U.S. space technologies and services for various applications, including agriculture, energy, transportation, and communications. A primary initial project involves a proposed $6.5 million satellite connectivity initiative in southern Peru, though implementation is subject to Congressional funding.

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman confirmed that the agency will collaborate with the State Department on the initiative. The program follows the 2023 Strategic Framework for Space Diplomacy and aims to establish the U.S. as a preferred partner in the space sector. Recent developments include Djibouti becoming the 72nd signatory to the Artemis Accords.
