US stock markets rally as semiconductor and tech sectors gain
Major US stock indices ended a four-day losing streak, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 0.98%, the Nasdaq Composite increasing 0.96%, and the S&P 500 gaining 0.86%.
Technology and semiconductor sectors led the rally. Notable gains were seen in SpaceX (over 2%), Amazon (nearly 2%), Apple (1.75%), and Google (over 1.5%). The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose 1.8%, supported by significant jumps in companies such as Onsemi (8.5%), ARM (over 4%), and Qualcomm (nearly 3%).
In contrast to the equity markets, international oil prices saw a sharp decline. US crude fell 2.54% to $99.88 per barrel, while Brent crude dropped over 3% to $104.25 per barrel. Precious metals also trended upward, with spot gold rising 0.74% and silver increasing 1.42%.
