U.S. strategic bombers depart RAF Fairford in the United Kingdom

Ten of the twelve B-1B Lancer strategic bombers stationed at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, England, have departed the base for the United States. The movement follows a recent security incident in which five individuals were detained by local police on suspicion of explosives-related offenses.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the departure is not unusual and falls within the framework of regular military equipment rotations and asset management. He noted that the Department of Defense frequently moves assets to where they are needed most.

However, U.S. President Donald Trump suggested a different motivation, telling reporters that the bombers left due to a specific threat, stating, “Yes, I think we can say that. They did not fly out of there by accident.”
