Donald Trump’s approval drops to historic low of 34%

A new CNN/SSRS poll of 1,225 U.S. adults shows President Donald Trump’s overall approval at 34 percent, matching the lowest level recorded at the end of his first term. The same survey finds a record 73 percent of Americans say he does not devote enough attention to the country’s most important problems.

Support among Republican voters has fallen to 78 percent, the lowest within the party during his tenure. On specific issues, only 28 percent approve of his handling of the war with Iran, 25 percent approve of his management of inflation, and 21 percent approve of his response to rising gasoline prices. Roughly two‑thirds of respondents believe Trump’s policies have worsened the economy and that his decisions on Iran have harmed U.S. interests.

Other recent polls corroborate the decline: a Quinnipiac University poll reported a 32 percent overall approval and a 76 percent Republican approval, while a Reuters/Ipsos survey found only one‑third of Americans support the war with Iran. The widespread dissatisfaction is occurring as the 2026 midterm elections approach, raising questions about Trump’s influence on the Republican Party and U.S. policy.
