US Tech Giants Forecast $725 bn AI Infrastructure Spending in 2026
Four leading U.S. technology companies—Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon and Meta—plan to invest about $725 billion in artificial‑intelligence infrastructure during 2026, a 77 % rise from the roughly $410 billion spent in 2025. Goldman Sachs projects that the combined outlays of these firms from 2025 through 2030 will total $5.3 trillion.
Individual capital‑expenditure targets for 2026 include Amazon’s $200 billion, Microsoft’s $190 billion, Alphabet’s $185 billion and Meta’s range of $115‑$145 billion. In a single quarter, the group’s spending already exceeded $140 billion, according to SEC filings compiled by Epoch AI.
While the public focus remains on model breakthroughs, the article notes that compute capacity—data‑center power, specialized silicon and GPU supply—has become the sector’s primary bottleneck. Decentralised infrastructure networks (DePIN) such as Akash Network, Render Network, io.net and Bittensor are emerging as niche alternatives, collectively generating tens of millions of dollars in revenue, but they remain a small fraction of the hyperscalers’ annual capex.
