United States launches ‘Operation Economic Outcast’ against Iran FAST-MOVING
The United States has launched ‘Operation Economic Outcast,’ a massive financial offensive against Iran described by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent as an ‘economic D-Day.’ The campaign aims to isolate the Iranian regime by cutting off its primary revenue streams and financial connections globally.
As part of this operation, the U.S. has sanctioned approximately 60 entities, including individuals, companies, and vessels linked to Iran’s nuclear, missile, and oil sectors. The sanctions specifically target the ‘shadow fleet’ and focus on five key areas: digital assets, technology, gold, aviation, and shipping.
Secretary Bessent warned that any nation or institution facilitating money laundering or economic transactions for Iran risks being excluded from the U.S. dollar-based financial system through secondary sanctions. President Donald Trump has reportedly been contacting international leaders to urge them to sever economic ties with Tehran.
In response, Iranian officials have condemned the measures as ‘economic terrorism.’ Vice Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi dismissed U.S. claims regarding the destruction of Iran's military and nuclear capabilities, while other Iranian leaders warned that countries complying with the U.S. campaign would face consequences and could be considered enemies.
