The meeting takes place ahead of a state visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to Washington, where he is expected to be hosted by President Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday and Friday.

JPMorgan Chase is providing its Manhattan headquarters as the venue due to increased security measures in the city surrounding the upcoming United Nations General Assembly. While the bank is not a participant in the talks, its CEO Jamie Dimon has been invited to a state dinner for President Xi next week.
