US Dollar and Treasury Yields Slip Ahead of Fed Decision as Oil Prices Fall

In New York financial markets the US dollar and Treasury yields fell as investors awaited the Federal Reserve’s policy decision. The dollar index dropped to about 101.09 and the dollar/KRW rate slipped to roughly 1,452 won. The 10‑year Treasury yield fell to 4.606%, with shorter‑term yields also declining.

The move was driven by a sharp fall in oil prices after US‑Iran tensions eased, sending WTI crude down about 7.5% to $82.61 per barrel. Market participants gauged a 40% chance that the Fed would raise its policy rate by 0.25% at the meeting, while a 95% probability of a hike by September was noted.

JP Morgan analysts, citing the same easing of Middle‑East tension and expectations of a Fed rate pause, said the S&P 500 index still holds considerable upside potential despite caution on AI‑related tech stocks.
