U.S. troop deployment to Poland remains undefined, says ambassador

U.S. Ambassador to Poland Matthew Whitaker told reporters that there are no new details on the promised deployment of an additional 5,000 U.S. soldiers to Poland. He said discussions with NATO allies are ongoing and that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has announced a six‑month review of the force posture, which is relevant for Poland.

Whitaker affirmed President Donald Trump's intention to follow through on the commitment, but indicated that timelines and operational specifics have not been decided. He also reiterated U.S. support for the defense of Poland and the Baltic states and urged NATO members to align their defence spending with U.S. levels.
