US trucker strike rumors circulate on social media
Social media reports are circulating claims that American semi-truck drivers plan to launch a coordinated nationwide strike beginning October 1, 2026. The rumored protest is reportedly driven by high diesel prices, with some social media videos citing costs exceeding $8 per gallon.
Some viral posts warn that such a stoppage could lead to significant food and supply chain shortages. However, there is currently no evidence to substantiate these claims. A spokesperson for the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association stated the organization has no knowledge of an upcoming strike, describing the reports as “social media chatter at this point in time.” The International Brotherhood of Teamsters has not commented on the rumors.
