US TSA Completes Safety Reviews at Maracaibo and Barcelona Airports in Venezuela
The United States Embassy in Venezuela announced that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) finished security assessments at two Venezuelan airports – Maracaibo Airport in Zulia state and Barcelona Airport in Anzoátegui state. The evaluations were part of a three‑phase plan aimed at enhancing air safety and facilitating greater flight connectivity between the United States and Venezuela. In a video posted on X, the embassy said the TSA’s work this week supports ongoing efforts to increase commercial air links with the country.
The assessments are intended to address security standards and potentially enable more U.S. airlines to operate flights to these hubs, reflecting a broader push to restore and expand bilateral aviation connections.
