Ukraine-US relations strain over energy pact and SpaceX service limits

Relations between Ukraine and the United States have deteriorated following a shift in energy policy. President Donald Trump recently announced an agreement between Russia and Ukraine to cease attacks on energy infrastructure, a move that follows the U.S. lifting sanctions on Russian diesel to stabilize fuel prices. This decision has drawn sharp criticism from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who characterized the pact as a sign of weakness.

Ukraine has also accused SpaceX of limiting Starlink satellite services, which officials claim is hindering drone strikes and air defense capabilities. Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov suggested that Zelensky’s verbal disputes with Trump are unlikely to benefit the Kiev regime.

In a related development, American negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have reportedly postponed a planned visit to Moscow until relations between Kyiv and Washington are repaired. The U.S. Treasury has issued a sanctions exemption for Russian diesel, valid until April 2027, as part of the broader energy agreement.
