US Under Secretary Allison Hooker visits Greece for security and economic talks

US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker is conducting an official visit to Greece to strengthen bilateral relations, focusing on regional security and economic cooperation.

During her visit, Hooker met with Vice President Kostis Hatzidakis to discuss energy cooperation, specifically the role of Greece as a gateway for American LNG to Central and Eastern Europe via the Vertical Corridor. Discussions also covered defense industry collaboration, technology investments, and the role of Greece within NATO.

As part of her itinerary, Hooker visited the ONEX Shipyards & Technologies in Elefsina. The visit highlighted Project Trident, a trilateral shipbuilding initiative involving Greece, the US, and South Korea with the participation of Hanwha Ocean. The shipyard visit underscores the strategic role of the Greek maritime industry in supporting Western defense and supply chain security, including developments in floating energy solutions and submarine construction.
