US universities offer funded PhD opportunities and assistantships

International students seeking doctoral studies in the United States have several pathways to mitigate high educational costs through fully funded opportunities and graduate assistantships.

Louisiana State University offers a funded PhD opportunity in Construction Management through its FIRST Lab. This research focuses on artificial intelligence, infrastructure resilience, and flood damage assessment, with a deadline of September 30, 2026.

Beyond specific scholarships, graduate assistantships serve as a major source of financial aid. These positions involve an employment agreement where students work approximately twenty hours per week for an academic department. In exchange, universities typically provide a full tuition waiver and a monthly stipend to cover living expenses, such as rent and food.
