US universities reach record international student enrollment
United States universities have reached a record high of 1.18 million international students for the 2024/25 academic year, marking a 5% increase from the previous year. International students now constitute approximately 6% of the total higher education population in the US.
India remains the largest source of international students, with enrollment increasing by 9.5% to 363,019, accounting for nearly 31% of the total. China follows as the second largest provider with 265,919 students, despite a 4.1% decrease. Together, India and China represent over half of all international students in the US.
In comparison, the presence of students from Moldova is minimal.
